A beautiful sunrise in front of Pointe Santo on West Gulf Drive. There were a lot of shells that January morning in 2005.

People have asked what I do with shells I find. Some of the things I've done with them can be found here. I have plans for many of them, when I get around to it. :) But mostly, I just enjoy looking at them.

I've never seen so many shells on a Sanibel beach before -- I would go crazy looking through all those! We recently saw piles at Bonita Beach but the shells were hauled in as part of a beach restoration project and there weren't that many good finds.
My sister and I usually go to Lighthouse Beach but I can never seem to get her there at sunrise. Are these pictures typical of a morning offering at West Gulf Drive or was this an unusual occurrence? And is West Gulf Drive accessible to anyone or is it behind a residence? (I wouldn't want to trespass.)
I just recently started a shelling blog at:

Stop by sometime and thanks for the great pix!
